Here lies the worlds largest high-grade uranium deposit. The mine lies in the southeast of the Athabasca Basin. The ore here is mined by raiseboring, boxhole boring, and remote boxhole boring. Ore is crushed and processed underground, then pumped to the surface as slurry or mud. This (toxic) mud is processed into containers for transportation to the mill.
The McArthur River Uranium mine is owned 69,80 % by Cameco and 30,20% by AREVA. Cameco is looking into business relations with China and India, providing Uranium mined in this area.
