Here lies the largest undeveloped high-grade uranium deposit in the world. The mine has a long history of delayed starts, partly due to floodings of 2006 and 2008. In 2014, ore production has begun at Cigar Lake Uranium Mine.
The mine is operated by Cameco, and owned by Cameco (50%), AREVA (37%), Idemitsu Canada Resources (8%), and TEPCO (5%). Ore produced here is transported to McClean Lake for processing.
